Life in school will be much easier for your child if he/she can master the following skills before school opens:
Say own name clearly (first name and surname)
Know home address
Put on, take off and hang up coat
Use toilet without help
Put shoes on correct feet
Open and close buttons, fasteners and belts
Encourage your child to do lots of scribbling and colouring with crayons, using whichever hand is dominant.
Understand and carry out simple requests and orders
Understand that sharing is very important
Handle books with care and listen to stories
Know basic colours
